A look into the engine room made the difference

The most recent trip to Japan made a difference for the team behind Danske Invest Global StockPicking.

More companies were on John William Olsen and his team’s short list when they went to Japan. However, they decided to make an investment in Japanese Omron Corp after having met with both the management team and a group of factory workers in Kyoto and Tokyo, respectively.

“We met with the management team in Tokyo, and subsequently we visited the company’s plant in Kyoto, where we met with 6-7 executives – among other with the manager who is responsible for developing their plants. We were allowed to look into the engine room and to have a chat with the people who are involved in the company’s day-to-day operations. This was the decisive factor behind our decision,” says John William Olsen.

Censors for production plants
Omron Corp. is producing censors for production plants among others in connection with the automation of industrial production.

China and other developing countries are forced to invest in automation to stay competitive, since wages in these countries are strongly on the rise. It is highly likely that Omron will benefit from the increased investment needs.

"The company is very attractively prices, and in our view the market is undervaluing the company's international growth potential. Therefore, we expect that our investment in Omron Corp. will turn out to be a very good investment," says John William Olsen.
